Trump’s First Few Words Following Attempted Assassination – Do We Truly Grasp Them?
The shots were heard around the world. And his words?
I typically stay away from political matters, in this case, also because I am not American. I never regarded myself a Trump follower. However, I spent the most beautiful part of my life in the States and still feel deeply connected to this precious nation. However, what happened, does not only concern the United States alone.
The event has left many in shock and deeply sorry for those who were affected and their families. Two things stand out to me.
First, the insane story framed by CNN and other MSM claiming that rather than the attempted assassination, Trump just had a fall, and security personnel needed to catch him. The second insanity that has been circulating is that it was all staged. Do they think there is no convincing evidence in the form of countless videos and photos taken by the many who attended the event? And what about those injured and the one victim who was killed? The despicable lies are in line with what they have been attempting to do for a long time. Making Trump look weak. Downgrading him at all levels.
It took me a while today to realize how important this is. It is not only because President Biden is stumbling and falling all over the place - and this is evident even to those who are not following him.
The importance of wanting to make Trump look weak goes deeper.
His strength is what his opponents hate about him the most. And this ties into the second point I want to highlight. Some have already attacked Trump for not urging calm after he was shot. This, even though he meanwhile has called for unity.
What did he say right after when he was almost killed that ought to be so vehemently denied?
In the most incredible response to the assassination attempt, a few brief split seconds after being shot, Trump threw himself on the floor to seek cover. And then, he only needed a few seconds to get up again. It does not seem at all that it was Secret Service who made him do it. Rather, it seemed of his own accord.
I wonder what would most of us have done? I may have been even more terrified while I was watching this scene than he was! It seems safe to say that many of us would have been paralyzed in fear and traumatized. We have seen so clearly how easily so many of us go hiding in fear of an enemy (e.g., the virus) that we do not even see. And here you have the missile hitting part of his body. And one of those parts, whilst grazed by the bullet, did not sustain a serious injury.
I think (my personal opinion) that Trump has a deep comprehension of what happened. I have heard many accounts of people with near-death experiences. Their accounts all agree in several ways: time, the way we experience it, is replaced by something else during those moments. It is as if time does not exist. Several have reported the fundamentally life-changing experiences they had, the invaluable lessons received, and the change they experienced that profoundly altered their future physical life - and everything unfolded in what to us seems like a very short physical time-span.
From this perspective, it may be that Trump, too, had a deep revelation of Life beyond his limited physical body. How else would he have jumped to his feet so quickly after the shots had been fired? It seemed he was unafraid of additional bullets. I surmise that deeply:
He knew that the danger had passed (he may not have gathered that the would-be assassin had already been shot by counter-snipers).
He knew that the reason he survived is beyond description and could never ever be replicated. In a great analysis of the event, Substack author ArnGrimR explained that “the shooter had an almost perfect shot lined up, hitting trump roughly halfway between center of his turned head and the edge of his head.” It is because he quickly turned his head towards the billboard with the immigration graph, during that key second, that his head was fully parallel to the view line of the assassin. Strikingly, this allowed the bullet to simply graze his head, hitting only his ear and nothing else.

Trump gets up and shouts, “FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!”
I have pondered his most startling response for hours. What gave him the power, ability, and conviction to respond in such a magnificent way? What prompted him to turn his head during that split second? What caused him to snap and quickly seek shelter from potentially additional shots? And then to raise with such a power that most envy like hell?
It has been dawning on me. The power is just that. HIS LIFE, his eternally precious Life, which, I believe, is beyond what we generally call life! Life itself roared up to demand Its existence and superiority.
I don’t know what he meant when he yelled “fight.” He did not specify, fight “against them.”
Can it be he called out the most important truth that so many of us have forgotten?
That he called out to FIGHT FOR... Yourself, your right to life. Fight for yourself, to be who you feel in your heart you want to be. Fight for your DIVINITY.
As I was pondering Trump’s surprising response, it suddenly came to me. My generation has never been told to fight. Much the opposite! We have been brought up believing that our security has been established by outside sources (e.g., the government, laws, international treaties, etc). I was trained to be the nice girl and long believed the “I am from the government, and I am here to help” insanity. Many of us have given our rights away, never being made aware that first and foremost, we needed to be true and stand up for ourselves.
Until just a few years ago, during most of my life, I had always been around horses. Most of the time, with them, the “be kind and nice” approach works much better than with humans. If you approach horses that way, they will respond accordingly, with grace and trust. Rarely, very rarely, there are exemptions. So, on extremely rare occasions, we would encounter a horse that has picked up the fight. It is in those rare instances when there is a place for fighting AGAINST...
There is an old saying that urges us that “when they have taken up the weapons, then so you have to.” Horses are simply much too strong. So, in those very exceptional situations, when some horses bite, kick, rear, or show some other aggressive behavior, we cannot just sit back and treat them as little pets. When those situations arise, we must defend ourselves, or else we may be seriously harmed. This is when we are called to fight with composure, skill, and experience, but fight nonetheless.
I never liked this part. It is a real art to not lose sight of what matters and to stay sober-minded, clear, and in control. After all, we humans are still the boss, but in exceptionally rare cases, a horse who has picked up their weapons needs to be countered accordingly.
We don’t like to talk about this part. We would much rather watch videos about the horse whisperer and dream about doing the same.
While Trump’s reaction may, to some degree, resemble those defensive features, I still wonder if his call to fight originated from a much deeper, or higher, place.
Can it be that it is this deeper sphere, Life itself, which calls for such a fight, to be able to live our life authentically and fully?
This reminds me of one of the paradoxical things that Jesus purportedly said shortly before He was betrayed and crucified.
“He said to them, 'But now, let him who has a purse take it, and likewise a bag. And let him who has no sword sell his mantle and buy one... And they said, 'Look, Lord, here are two swords.' And he said to them, 'It is enough.'” (LUKE 22:36&38, RSV)
For decades, when I was studying these verses, I was perplexed. Had Jesus forgotten that He was the Son of God? It never made sense. But what Trump called out after being shot may be very similar.
There is a time to FIGHT FOR who we truly are and for what belongs to us. We tend to focus on Jesus’ crucifixion. I wonder what He said and how much has been edited by numerous translations and traditions. It seems clear that Jesus did not fight to defend himself. If there was anything He did fight, it was limitations and beliefs of smallness and defeat. It was in this very context He also exclaimed, “Now I am glorified.” It is easy to miss or wrongly interpret this statement.
The word “fight” seems strange in this context. I would much rather use a more gentle, kind term. But isn’t this the point? We have never been told how important it is to fight appropriately – FOR who we are.
When has my generation been fighting for the divinity of humanity? Certainly not before the pandemic. And even now, many of us are still reluctant. We would much rather find an easier way. Or don’t do anything at all.
I am reminded of some saying attributed to Jesus (as reported by Baird Spalding) as He pressed on to reach the highest goal, and nothing short of that.
“He was obliged to hold fast as you are obliged to hold fast today, even with clenched fist and set teeth and saying, ‘I will succeed, I do know the Christ lives within me.’”
Can it be that our society has never understood the value of what we should be fighting FOR?
I mean, the highest ideal of our life, as exemplified by a few great souls throughout history.
To me, Trump’s call to fight may be one of the most profound messages humanity has heard in a long time.
FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! FOR FREEDOM AND OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL
Beautiful.... thank you! What came to me in those words - "fight fight fight" - was that it was a culminating response to what he has been doing for 10 yrs.... or maybe his entire life? He absolutely knows there are forces after him that will stop at nothing and as he told us at one time -" they aren't after me, they are after you and I am just standing in their way". He cannot stand against them alone and so he encourages us to fight fight fight because this is a battle that will tolerate no spectators. Too many have been watching the battle in the arena from safe places but those "safe" places are about to be annihilated.
May we all put on the pieces of armor that we have been lacking, whether it's the sword or shield or whichever, and engage the enemy.
